My name is Matthew, but I go by Matt. I believe that my strengths are that I learn things fast, I can easily pick up things, I don’t have to go over things more than once or twice, most things come easy to me. My weakness on the other hand would be that I have problems with authority, I don’t like being told what to do, which tends to get me in trouble because I will sometimes refuse to do things I don’t like, that is something that I need to fix, because I wont make it anywhere in life with that kind of attitude.
In the future I plan on attending the Nashville campus of the Lincoln School of Technology, also known as the Nashville Auto Diesel College, I plan on moving to Nashville in July of this year. After college I would like to get a good job in the mechanics field and try to save money to open up my own auto shop specializing in gas, small diesel engines and then high performance engines. Id like to also like to return to college to learn motorcycle mechanics, but that wouldn’t be until later in once I was able to pay my way through school again. At the moment I don’t know much about the career of my choice, other than the fact that one day I hope to own my own shop. Owing my own shop in the future is a goal I have because I don’t like being told what to do, so if I owned my own shop I wouldn’t have a boss to answer to, so if I have a way of doing something and that way is better than others, I wouldn’t have to get permission to do it my way, I could just do it my way and be done with it.
Another thing I would like to learn to do is custom pin striping and paint jobs for cars, I enjoy drawing very detailed drawings so I think that would also be a good skill to have, but it wouldn’t be a career, but more of a skill I could use in my career, so that my shop could do more that just fix, and improve cars, with the skill to custom pin stripe I would be able to have a larger clientele. And I also feel that in the future it would be good for business to have the skills to customize cars as well as repair them. Although pin striping would be extremely difficult to learn, it would be a very useful skill to have if I got good enough at it, because no one goes to get their car painted and expects and pays for a bad paint job, and no one would want pin stripes that aren’t straight, a crooked stripe would look really bad on a car.
I enjoy drawing, there aren’t many things that I cant draw, I draw cartoons, comic book heroes, cars, trees, animals, custom tattoo designs, and even people. If I could keep my hand steady then maybe I would have chosen to be a tattoo artist, I could see myself putting permanent art on someone, drawing custom tattoos for people, or just doing flash tattoos. Tattooing would be a nice career, because I see it as art, not just something someone does to seem cool, but since I cant keep my hand steady enough to do that, I chose to pursue other options I feel I will enjoy just as much. I don’t have to have just one career option, I am flexible, there are more than a few choices of careers that I could enjoy had I chosen them, but I chose what I chose, I got accepted into the college, so there is no turning back now.
